Today’s start represents the second off a six-month layoff for the colt, and VICARAGE has hit the board in both his starts at Churchill Downs, finishing third in last year’s Derby Trial and placing in the Grade III Ack Ack last fall. Chalk up the last start as a failure to handle the Keeneland surface, or perhaps a mulligan coming off the long layoff, but regardless expect a much improved showing today.
